Terms of Service

Last updated September 30, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Atrium AI LLC ("Atrium," "we," "us") and govern your use of Atrium Gather, including the iPhone app, the web app and this website (together, "Gather"). By creating an account or using Gather you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Gather. Effective date: September 30, 2026.

1. What Gather is

Gather helps home churches, micro churches and church plants care for their people: a directory, gatherings and RSVPs, attendance, prayer requests, a church chat, reading plans and lesson plans. Gather is free. There are no subscriptions, in-app purchases or ads. If we ever introduce paid features, we will tell you before any charge applies, and paying will be your choice.

2. Who can use Gather

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use Gather.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to create a church or to be a church's Leader.
  • If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Gather only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms.
  • You may not use Gather if we have previously terminated your account for breaking these Terms, or if the law forbids you from using it.

You confirm your date of birth when you create an account, and it must be accurate. If you create a church or act for one, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf.

3. Your account

Give accurate information, keep your password to yourself, and use a password you do not use elsewhere. You are responsible for what happens under your account. One account is for one person; do not share it or create an account for someone else without their permission. Tell us at [email protected] straight away if you think someone else has used your account.

4. Churches, roles and what leaders can do

Each church on Gather is run by its own leaders, not by Atrium. A church has four roles:

  • Leader: full access, including church settings, inviting other leaders, deleting records and downloading the church's data.
  • Co-leader: can care for people, edit the directory, send messages, invite members and moderate the chat.
  • Member: can see gatherings, RSVP, share prayer requests, chat, and edit their own profile.
  • Viewer: read-only.

When you join a church, its Leaders and Co-leaders can see and edit the church's record about you, including your contact details, address, prayer requests, attendance and pastoral notes; they can remove your messages from the chat, mute you, or remove you from the church. A Leader can download a copy of the church's directory. The Privacy Policy explains exactly who sees what.

If you are a Leader or Co-leader, you agree that you will:

  • record information about people only for the genuine care of your church, and only where you have their permission or another lawful basis;
  • keep what you can see confidential, and not use or share it for anything else, including selling, marketing or fundraising lists outside your church;
  • take extra care with children's information and with prayer requests and notes, which can be sensitive;
  • correct or remove a record when the person it is about asks you to;
  • not store payment card numbers, government ID numbers, passwords or medical records in Gather;
  • message people only if they have agreed to hear from your church, and stop when they ask. Group texts and emails you write in Gather are sent from your own device's Messages or Mail app, under your own number or address, so you are the sender and responsible for them. Text-message invites are sent by Gather on your behalf, and you are responsible for whom you invite.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • break the law, or help anyone else to;
  • harass, threaten, deceive, exploit or harm anyone, and especially not a child;
  • post content that breaks the community standards in section 6;
  • impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your connection to a person or church;
  • send spam, chain messages or unsolicited advertising;
  • collect other people's information from Gather for any purpose other than caring for your church;
  • access Gather by automated means, probe or break its security, overload it, or interfere with anyone else's use;
  • copy, sell, or reverse engineer Gather, except as the law allows despite this restriction;
  • upload malware or anything you do not have the right to share.

6. Community standards

Gather has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. These standards apply to everything you post or share: chat messages, your profile (name, photo and bio), prayer requests, and anything else you add to Gather. Do not post or send content that is:

  • sexually explicit, or that sexualises anyone under 18 in any way;
  • hateful, or that attacks people for who they are;
  • harassing, bullying, threatening, or encouraging violence or self-harm;
  • defamatory, deceptive, or someone else's private information shared without consent;
  • illegal, or that promotes illegal activity;
  • spam, scams or impersonation.

How to report. If you see something that breaks these standards, or someone is abusing you:

  • A chat message: long-press the message (on the web, open its menu) and choose Report message. You can block the sender from the same menu, which hides their messages from you.
  • A profile: open the person in People, open the menu and choose Report profile.
  • Anything else: open More, then Help & support, and send a request, or email [email protected].

What happens next. Message reports go to your church's Leaders and Co-leaders and to the Atrium team; profile reports go to the Atrium team. We review every report within 24 hours. When content breaks these standards we remove it, and we act against the person who posted it: depending on what happened, we mute them in the chat, remove the content from their profile, eject them from the church, or suspend or permanently terminate their account. Church leaders can also delete messages, mute people and remove members in their own church. Chat messages are also filtered automatically for profanity. Where content suggests a child is at risk or someone is in danger, we may report it to the authorities.

7. Your content

You own what you post. You give Atrium a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process and display your content only as needed to operate Gather for you and your church, for example to show your message to your church, or to send a notification. This licence ends when your content is deleted, except for copies we keep as the Privacy Policy describes (such as support records) or as the law requires. We do not use your content for advertising.

You confirm that you have the right to post what you post, and that it does not break these Terms or anyone else's rights.

8. Moderation

We do not review everything posted in Gather, but we may review, filter, remove or restrict access to any content, and restrict or terminate any account, when we believe it breaks these Terms, puts someone at risk, or exposes Atrium or others to legal liability. We are not responsible for content that other users post.

9. The marketplace

The marketplace offers reading plans, lesson packs and other resources for churches. Items in it are free. Most are written by third-party creators such as other churches and ministries, and their views are their own, not Atrium's. Marketplace content is provided as is: we do not guarantee that it is accurate, complete or suitable for your church, and you should review it before you use it. Each item stays the property of its creator; installing one gives your church the right to use and adapt it within Gather. If you submit an item to the marketplace, you confirm that you have the right to share it and you allow us to review it and, if we accept it, to offer it to other churches on Gather free of charge.

10. Deleting your account and leaving a church

You can leave Gather at any time by deleting your account in the app: on iPhone, open More, tap your name to open Account, then Delete account; on the web, open More, then Delete account. If you cannot sign in, email [email protected]. The Privacy Policy explains what deletion removes and the limited records we keep.

If you lead a church. A church always needs an adult Leader. When you delete your account, the church continues under any other Leader. If you are its only Leader, your longest-serving adult Co-leader becomes the Leader. If there is nobody to hand it to, the app warns you first, and the church closes only if you confirm: it disappears for all its members immediately and all of its data is permanently deleted 30 days later.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account, or remove you from a church, if you break these Terms (including the community standards), if we are required to by law, or if your use creates a risk for other people or for Gather. Where it is safe and lawful, we will tell you why. If you think we made a mistake, write to [email protected]. We may change, suspend or stop offering all or part of Gather; if we stop offering Gather entirely, we will give you reasonable notice so churches can download their data. Sections 7 (for content we are allowed to keep), 12, 13, 14, 17 and 18 survive the end of these Terms.

12. Disclaimers

Gather is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We do not promise that Gather will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that notifications or reminders will arrive, or that content will be kept without loss, so keep your own copies of anything important. Gather is not an emergency service: do not rely on it for urgent or life-safety communication. Gather is a tool; it does not provide pastoral, medical, legal or professional counselling.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Atrium and its owners, employees and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising from or related to Gather or these Terms, even if we were told they were possible. Because Gather is free, our total liability for all claims relating to Gather is limited to US $100. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you; nothing in these Terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

14. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend and indemnify Atrium against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) brought by third parties that arise from content you post, from your breach of these Terms, or, if you are a church leader, from how you and your church collect and use other people's information in Gather.

15. Third-party services

Gather works with services we do not control, such as Apple's App Store and push notifications, your device's Messages and Mail apps, the calendar app you subscribe with, DeepSeek (AI lesson drafts), TextBee (text-message invites) and Mapbox (address search). Their own terms apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for them. AI lesson drafts are suggestions that can be wrong: review them before you use them.

16. Apple App Store

If you downloaded Gather from Apple's App Store, you and we also agree that:

  • these Terms are between you and Atrium only, not Apple, and Atrium, not Apple, is responsible for the app and its content;
  • your licence to use the app is limited to Apple-branded devices you own or control, as the App Store's Usage Rules allow;
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app;
  • if the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty you may notify Apple, and Apple's only obligation is to refund any purchase price (the app is free); Apple has no other warranty obligation;
  • Atrium, not Apple, is responsible for any product liability, legal compliance or consumer protection claims about the app, and for investigating and defending any claim that the app infringes someone's intellectual property;
  • you confirm you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties;
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before bringing a claim, please contact us at [email protected] so we can try to resolve it informally. Any dispute that we cannot resolve will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. If you live in a country whose consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts, or gives you protections these Terms cannot override, nothing here takes those rights away.

18. General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Atrium about Gather. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a part of these Terms, we have not waived it. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours to a successor that takes on Gather.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date and, if a change is material, tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Gather after a change takes effect, you accept the new Terms; if you do not agree, you can delete your account.
